If you follow me on Instagram you've probably heard me talk about Beauty Pie a lot! But I've never actually explained what it is and how it works, it's really not your average cosmetics brand. I've used Beauty Pie pretty much exclusively for almost 2 years, not only has it saved me a small fortune, but I am obsessed with their products!
I was introduced to Beauty Pie by a friend and when she explained it to me I asked her "What's the catch?", I felt dubious at first and watched her orders come in from the sidelines for a couple of months, waiting for 'the catch'. There wasn't one. So I put my first order in and haven't looked back since.
So, what's the deal?
Beauty Pie describes itself as a luxury beauty buyers club, giving its members access to luxury beauty products from the worlds leading labs for a fraction of the price. They can do this because there's no middle man, no retailer mark ups and Beauty Pie don't have a big budget for marketing, they don't pay celebrities to be the face of the brand. They rely on word of mouth and make their profits through membership fees. Other luxury cosmetic companies put huge mark ups on their products, sometimes up to 10 times the amount it actually costs to produce!
How does it work?
To shop Beauty Pie for bargain prices, you have to be a member. Memberships start from as little as £5 a month, depending on how much spending allowance you want. I pay £5 a month which gives me a £50 spending allowance per month. The £50 spending allowance is based on the RRP of the products, so if the foundation is £30 RRP and the concealer is £20 RRP that uses up my spending limit even though I've only paid the members price of £7.38 for the foundation and £4.19 for the concealer. I tend to do a big order every 3-4 months and Beauty Pie carries your unused spending allowance over each month. This means every 3-4 months I have a decent allowance to spend on goodies. You can increase or decrease your membership fee and allowance at any time.
Transparency is key for Beauty Pie. You can see cost breakdowns for each product, so you know exactly what you're paying for. All Products are manufactured in the same way as your favourite luxury brands. Although Beauty Pie don't claim to make 'dupes' of other luxury brands, if you look at the ingredients lists and compare them to other luxury brands, it speaks for itself really.
Beauty Pie still feels luxurious. It comes beautifully packaged in a box with each product carefully wrapped in pink tissue paper. The packaging of the products themselves, although lighter than what you might get shopping with Charlotte Tilbury or Mac, still feel substantial and good quality. The branding is simple and modern, it looks great on my dressing table.
One of the best things about Beauty Pie is that they are 100% cruelty free and most of their products are Vegan. They also use plant based inks for their packaging and recyclable and recycled cardboard!
